Welcome back to my Learning Ogham series. This week we move on to Nuin!
Nuin is the symbol of the ash tree. It is the world tree with roots that run deep into the underworld and branches that reach high into the heavens above. This is the tree of Odin, upon which he hung for nine days to gain the knowledge of the runes. It also connects the microcosm and macrocosm. The symbol may indicate that someone needs to look at the bigger picture, while recognizing their place within their current situation. It is a reminder that we are a part of the cosmic order. Below are a few attributes of this symbol:

Good morning everyone! When I started sharing these divinations, I had planned on doing them weekly. I feel off the wagon for a little bit, but that is still my goal. I can't promise it will be every week, but I am going to try. I plan to continue to experimenting with different decks, lots, symbols, and sets but for now I am going to have to start recycling the sets I have due to the "Stay Home" orders. This week, we dive into Tarot again, but this time with a whole new art style and presentation. Beltane is happening at the end of the week, and below is the message I received:
For me, this week's omen is a bit complicated. We begin with the Queen of Cups, showing reflection and the importance of reaching out to those who care of us. Justice shows us that we need to find balance without ourselves and our current endeavors. The Four of Disks shows us that we need to stay grounded and that we will find material security. While it doesn't seem overtly positive, I think it's a message that we need to keep doing what we're doing and not take things to any extremes, and ultimately we will be ok. These cards & interpretations come from the Tarot of Ceremonial Magick by Lon Milo and Constance DuQuette! If this message speaks to you, or if you have some other interpretation, I would love to hear from you! I hope you all have a wonderful week. I've been quiet here for the past few weeks, quite honestly because I've been a bit overwhelmed. Beginning in March, we were given Stay Home orders and schools were closed, which means for the past 42 days I have been working from home, unexpectedly homeschooling a 5th grader, and trying to keep a 2.5 year old from destroying my home...all while trying to help them feel like everything is going to be ok. The weather also hasn't helped, with sudden snow storms, freezing temperatures, etc. even our back yard has been essentially off limits because it's too cold to go outdoors until this week. We've all got a bit of cabin fever, and I know we're not alone in that, but it lead me to a point where I couldn't find the inspiration to write or share what little I was doing, and I'm trying to get back out of that funk. Hopefully sharing here and being a little bit vulnerable will help. I know things will never be quite the same after this. We have no real time line as to when we will be able to return to our offices or the kids return to their schools, and I think that's the most challenging part. I know we can make it through, but not having some sort of end date makes it a little disheartening at times, so occasionally I have to be a bit creative. I've taken up the hobby of remodeling my kitchen, which I see as the heart of my home. It's brought me joy to work with my hands and see that space transform.
This post is pretty all over the place, but I just wanted to sit down and share what was in my mind today, and hope that it could help get me back on the right path to move forward. Welcome to week 4 in our Learning Ogham series! This week, we dive into the symbol Saille.
Saille is the symbol of the willow tree. It symbolizes femininity, lunar cycles, and night vision. Saille is also said to be representative of intuition. March has passed and somehow we've found our way into April. Social distancing & isolation have become our new norm. I don't know about you, but this has definitely been a challenging time in my life. We're trying to establish new routines and maintain sanity in whatever way we can. This week's omen came a simple Ogham set. I'm far from an expert with these symbols, but I'm trying and I'm learning. Here is the message from this week:
As I have said, I am definitely not an expert with Ogham. My interpretation here though I think is pretty straight forward. Luis speaks of our current environment. Our actions are intended to control the spread of illness, and to protect the most vulnerable of us from harm. There is beauty in these actions. Nion tells us that these actions are based on the knowledge we have obtained through the knowledge and wisdom of ancients. Again, our actions are intended to soothe the challenges and bring a peaceful end to the chaos. Uath once again speaks of protection, both for ourself and our fellow humans. However, it also speaks of cleansing and counseling. To me, this message reminds us that, while we need to make sure that we are taking proper sanitization efforts, we also need to make sure that we are taking care of our mental health, whether this is through formal counseling, or through our (socially distant) social interactions with others. Make sure that you are taking care of yourself and staying safe. |
