Happy Monday! I hope you are all doing well! We've reached the final day of August! This year has seemed to both fly past, and drag by at the same time, but each new month brings potential for good things....including the opportunities shown in this week's omen. This divination comes from the Otherkin Tarot by Siolo Thompson.
The Sun is a symbol of all things good. It speaks of success and joy. Just like the brilliance of the sun itself, this card is a shining beacon of hope and positivity. It's a much needed moment of sunshine when the days are starting to grow shorter day by day. The Wheel of Fortune speaks of the different cycles of life, and the transitions between the seasons. It speaks of the nature of change and the journey along the way. However, because things change over time, this card also tells us to take hold of those opportunities in front of us, and hold onto them. It is important in these times to seize those positive moments wherever we can. The Four of Wands is a message of community and coming together. It's those positive interactions that we have with people around us. To summarize, find joy in life. Be grateful for the successes, and seize opportunities to go with the flow and follow the cycles of the universe. Lean on your community, as we all come together to find positivity in the world around us. If this message speaks to you, or if you have some other interpretation, I would love to hear from you! I hope you all have a wonderful week.

In the second episode of our Triskele Podcast, we started talking about our regular practices. We shared our approaches to maintaining a regular practice, and what our current daily, weekly, and monthly practices look like. Since my descriptions aren't super detailed, I thought I would make a few posts to expand a little bit with all of you. Over the past two weeks, I have talked about my daily and weekly practices, so this week I wanted to expand a bit on my Monthly practices. In the podcast, I talked about two weekly practices that I maintain currently, and I'd like to expand on those just a little bit. Hearth GoddessesAs someone who spends a lot of time both taking care of my own home, and trying to build the community around me, I work a lot with hearth goddesses, specifically Hestia and Brigid. Both of these deities watch over my home and family, but also push me to share the fire of my hearth with friends and family, and to bring that fire to the community in general. Part of my devotion to them takes part on the first of each month. I take the time to make specific offerings to them of bread and wine, to nourish and celebrate with them. I take the time to physically clean their altar spaces. I then light a candle and burn incense to cleanse the space on a spiritual level. I thank them both for the gifts they bring to my home, hearth, and heart and then ask that they continue to stand beside me in my work. I pull an omen to see what messages I am to receive from them, and go about my day. It's a nice moment to re-connect and strengthen my relationship with them. Athena and the OdysseySeveral years ago, I wrote a six-month long trance experience that walked me through the the tale of the Odyssey. It was an emotional and spiritual journey unlike anything I had ever done before, and I was grateful to have Athena, my patron, by my side in her role as Mentor. Athena is a consistent part of my life, with her own shrines in both my home and office, but on the Full Moon of each month, I take the time to re-visit her in the role of the Mentor to re-evaluate my time with the Odyssey and the journey that I took along the way. I also look ahead to see what path I should take forward next. I give offerings to Athena to thank her for her aid, and journal any specific ideas I have for moving forward. I'm lucky to have a "patron" deity who has been so ever-present in my life, but I still want to take the time to acknowledge that relationship and the wonderful gift that it is to my life. Other PracticesThere are also other monthly practices that I currently have, but those are tied to orders and practices that I am not allowed to share publicly. They are also dedicated to building my relationships with my spirit allies, and I am grateful for those practices. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, my practice is constantly evolving. Every day, every month, I do what feels right to my practice in that moment. My path changes depending on what is happening in my life and what my spiritual focus is on, and I am forever grateful for that flexibility. If you have questions, or if there is something you'd like me to expand upon, please don't hesitate to ask! Have a wonderful weekend! Happy Monday! I hope you are all doing well! August hasn't slowed down a bit, so I'm happy to get a little break as I look at our omen for the week. Below is the message I received from the Moonology Oracle Cards by Yasmin Boland and Nyx Rowan:
The Balsamic Moon tells us that we still need a little more time to heal before we can move forward. Listen to the world around us and give ourselves time to mend our hurts before we move into the bright future ahead. The Disseminating Moon tells us that the situation we are in has peaked. It's time to take a breath, recenter ourselves, and relax before we move forward. We stand in our current space, and we need to accept that it's an ok place to be for now. The Supermoon speaks of success. It's shows a lot of brightness, but also a lot of emotion in the current situation. However, the answer you're looking for may be very, very obvious. You just have to look and trust your instincts. To summarize, our current situation may have peaked, but we still need some time to mend ourselves before we rush forward. Breathe, center, and relax, take control of our emotions. Taking this time will allow us to move toward a bright future. Last week I talked about my daily practice, so this week I wanted to expand a bit on my Weekly practice. In the podcast, I talked about 4 weekly practices that I maintain currently, and I'd like to expand on those just a little bit. MondayLet's start with Monday mornings. As I settle into a new work week, I take a 3 symbol omen to see what the week is going to bring. Currently, I'm doing a project where I use a different omen set each week to see if I can find correlating messages across symbols, and share those messages across social media, and on this blog. I sit down, I breathe deeply a few times, and I pull the omen, taking in the message of the symbol itself, as well as any messages that come to me during that moment. It's been interesting to share this practice publicly and get feedback from others who may connect with the message as well. TuesdaySeveral times a week, I take the time to water the tomato and pepper plants that I am growing for the first time this year. However, on Tuesday evenings, I take the time to go sit out with those plants and make special water offerings to them as a way to honor Demeter and the growing season. As I pour the water, I say a small prayer, usually along the lines of the one below. I then take the time to just sit in the grass near the plants and listen to the world around me, grateful for my own space in it. Blessed Demeter, Daughter of Cronus and Rhea, Goddess of grain, fruits and bread, Like a mother, you give us the gift of life. You who made fruit to spring from the lands So the rich land was filled with leaves and flowers. You who fill the barns with foods through your joy. Thank you for the blessings you have given mankind, For teaching the art of harvest, and that all must end. For providing us the many foods that sustain us. Divine, delightful, and lovely Goddess For all these things and more, Bounteous Demeter, We thank you! FridayFriday's are a day that are currently dedicated to the OBOD Bardic course. I spend part of the day reading through that week's Gwers and taking notes on anything that is important. I also then take the time to follow any practicum or exercise pieces of that week's lesson and journal those experiences as well. It's very different than my practice within ADF, but I do find parts of it to be very complimentary and it's been an interesting experience. I have only been a member of OBOD for about six months, but am enjoying the journey so far. I'm still learning and exploring, and I appreciate the different perspective and approach to Druidry that it presents. SundayThe final consistent weekly practice I have right now happens on Sunday morning, when I have tea with my ancestors. The idea of making tea to share with my ancestors was adopted from a member of my former grove, and I'm so grateful to have this connection as part of my own practice. I make tea or coffee and pour cups for both myself and my ancestors. I then take the tea to my ancestor shrine and sit down beside it, and just talk. I share what is happening in my life and the world around me. The way I explain it in the podcast is essentially if you were to call your grandma and fill her in on your life...that's the conversation I have with my ancestors. Sometimes I'll pull an omen to see if there is feedback they have for me, but that definitely doesn't happen every week. So, as I said last week, my practice changes constantly. There are only 4 days mentioned here, but there are definitely times that each day of the week has it's own specific practice, depending on what is happening in my life and what my spiritual focus is on. If I have a study program or something I am working on, a day gets dedicated to those efforts for as long as is needed. Welcome back to my Learning Ogham series. This week we continue to explore the horizontal, or vowel, Ogham as we explore Ohn.
Ohn is the symbol of the furze tree. As I mentioned last week, vowels are action symbols. Ohn is the act of collecting useful things, like a magpie. Treasures can be found, and are different for every person, but we have to look for them. This message says that you have found (or will find) what you need to to move forward on your journey. Below are a few attributes of this symbol:
Welcome to our weekly divination! This week, I am once again using Alice: the Wonderland Oracle by Lucy Cavendish and artwork by Jasmine Becket-Griffith. This oracle is a lot of fun because each card description begins with a quote from Alice in Wonderland, and then the quote is explained, before the divination explanation is given. As someone who has always loved Wonderland and all things associated with it, this deck brings me a lot of joy. Let's see what this week brings:
Keeping Up - Effort - Everything seems to be changing too quickly around you, and you're working hard to stay on top of it all. This card says "you keep trying and trying but seem to be in the very same place." However, this message shows that we have to work even harder. The only way out of the current situation is to work hard, devote more time, and push through the resistance. Falling - Change and the Unknown - This card speaks of of being in flux. You're in between changes and don't quite know where things are headed...which can be scary and stressful. It's a message that life may feel unfamiliar, and things like routine may be hard to find. However, falling also indicates that eventually you have to land. This is the moment before change happens, before rebirth. Try to let go and just go with the flow as change happens. All in the Golden Afternoon - Inspiration, Creativity, and Imagination - This is the card of the muses, the card of awen. This is a message that you will find inspiration, and now is the time to tell your tale and create. It may mean that you need to be creative in your current situation to find a solution, but now is the time to find that inspiration. For me, Keeping Up shows our current environment, the efforts that we've put in during quarantine and that repetitive, exhausting cycle that we've been living in. However, it also tells us that we need to work even harder. Falling shows that now is a time of flux. As we approach the return to school, the whole world feels like it's constantly changing without any real answers. We don't know what to expect or where we will land. But All in the Golden Afternoon tells us to get creative and we can find a solution. Eventually, we will have answers, which I take as a very positive answer. In the second episode of our Triskele Podcast, we started talking about our regular practices. We shared our approaches to maintaining a regular practice, and what our current daily, weekly, and monthly practices look like. Since my descriptions aren't super detailed, I thought I would make a few posts to expand a little bit with all of you, starting with my Daily Practices.
As I describe in the podcast, I try to focus my daily practice around activities that I am already doing in an effort to be more consistent, and also because doing that means that I don't have to "find time" to do my devotionals. It starts each morning when I first pour my cup of coffee. I breath in the smell of coffee and say a short prayer, often internally: This new day brings with it new potential. May my actions be hospitable. May my thoughts be wise. May my heart be filled with love. Mighty Kindred, thank you for the blessings you bring to my life. May I remember those gifts through my day. From there, I continue to get ready, and then drive my daughter to school. The drive from her school to my office takes about 15 minutes, and it is in that drive that morning practice #2 comes into play. I call to the Hittite goddess Arinitti (you can learn more about here here) and ask her for blessings upon my day. Arinitti, from the bright burning sun high above, to the glowing fire deep inside the earth, You bring warmth and life to the world. You reach across the cosmos I ask that your fires burn within me, and connect me to your light. Once I get to my office, I have a small offering bowl, and there I share part of either my breakfast or my coffee with her and go about my day, trying to keep these prayers in mind. Some days it helps. Some days I forget as soon as they leave my lips, but I try. I end my day with one final prayer, as I crawl into bed, to show gratitude to the kindreds. Mighty Kindreds, thank you for the many gifts you have brought to my life. The peace and wisdom that comes from the Shining Ones The connection and sustenance gifted by the Nature Spirits The guidance and path set forth by my Ancestors These led me to where I am, and lead me to where I will go. Might Kindreds, thank you. Sometimes I'll expand on this if there is something specific that I want to address, but ultimately I just want to try to express my gratitude for the life I have, even when things aren't perfect. Depending on what is happening in my life, this practice changes constantly. Sometimes things are added. Other times, they're removed. Ultimately though, I'm trying, and I think that goes a long way. Welcome back to my Learning Ogham series. This week we begin to explore the horizontal, or vowel, Ogham as we explore Ailim.
Ailim is the symbol of the silver fir tree. It represents long sight and high views. Vowels are action symbols, so this symbol represents the need to find ways to look far and wide, to expand your views. However, these things won't just happen. You have to work for them. Below are a few attributes of this symbol:
In all of my planning and sharing, I have completely neglected you, dear blog. I am thrilled to share that I am co-hosting a new podcast, Triskele Podcast, with my friends Drum and Victoria. We just put out our second episode yesterday, and I am excited to see what everyone thinks. I'd love if you'd check it out. You can find more information about the Triskele Podcast on our website: https://triskelepodcast.weebly.com This week's omen comes from the Celtic Tree Oracle by Colin Murray:
Videos we discussed this episode: If you have feedback, I'd love to hear it. And if you have topics you'd like to see us discuss, send them my way! I'd love to hear from you. Happy Monday! I hope you are all doing well! I work in education, so August tends to be a very busy time of year, and this year that is most definitely amplified. I'm grateful for any sort of "normalcy" I can find, including my weekly omen. It's been a couple weeks since I shared, and I'm happy to be back on track. Below is the message I received today:
