Happy Monday everyone! I hope you're having a wonderful first week of autumn and enjoying cooler temperatures and shorter days. I love the fall, and this year especially so because it means that 2020 is finally nearing its end. For now though, it's time again for our divination for the week. This week I am using the Mythic Oracle by Carisa Mellado & Michele-Lee Phelan.
Heracles is a message of strength, as well as focus and discipline. It tells us that can't always just follow our instincts, but instead we need to think through our actions and be disciplined and controlled in our approach. Establish your direction and do what you have to do to take back your own power. Chrion speaks of the need for healing and finding balance. Sometimes healing means letting go of those things that are hurting us, which isn't always an easy task. Through healing we can learn about gifts within ourselves. Hecate is a message that we're at a crossroads. Things are going to change, but we have the power to choose which path we take. Hecate symbolizes a decision. Often her lantern can help guide us in picking the direction we want to take moving forward. Follow your inner wisdom and make a decision. Putting these all together, this message tells us that now is the time to be strong and focused in our work. We need to find a place of healing and balance. Now is the time to make a decision in how we want to move forward and do it! If this message was meaningful for you, or if you have other interpretations, I'd love to hear them. Have a wonderful week. Mabon, Alban Elfred, Havest Home, Feast of Ingathering....No matter what name you use, today we're talking about the Autumnal Equinox! The Autumn Equinox marks the first day of the autumn season. It's a time where day and night are once again equal and in balance. From here, the days will continue to grow shorter and shorter, as we approach the darkest part of the year. In my part of the world, Fall is also a time of harvest, and celebration for my family. It's the season of pumpkins and apples, of visiting local farms. It's a time to appreciate the abundance of growth that is gifted to us from a summer of hard work. It's the time of year when we see the leaves begin to change, sometimes growing even brighter and more brilliant in color before they eventually fall to the ground once more. I definitely look forward to this high day. I love the fall. I love the feeling in the air, the energy of the world, and the way everything changes as the weather begins to cool. In my region the weather is usually still warm enough that you have to look at the calendar to realize that fall has started. There are lots of different ways to celebrate the Autumn Equinox! Below are just a few examples:
If you'd like to celebrate along with me, you can check out my High Day Rituals for a couple ritual suggestions. I hope you all have a wonderful Equinox. Good morning everyone! It's time once again for some divination. I'm turning to Runes this week to see what wisdom they have for us.
Sowillo is a message of warmth and light. As the season begins to turn toward the colder seasons, it's time to remember the successes we have had, and the gifts that we do have in our lives. The sun is ever-present, even when the world feels dark and full of challenges. Fehu reminds us of the weath we have in our lives. While typically it refers to monetary wealth or mobile wealth, in this situation I feel like it's a message that despite the difficulties we have all faced this year, we still have a wealth and abundance of gifts in our lives. Raidho shows movement, that we are following the path we should be following, and to keep moving forward. If this message was meaningful for you, or if you have other interpretations, I'd love to hear them. Have a wonderful week.
Welcome back to my Learning Ogham series. This week we continue to explore the horizontal, or vowel, Ogham as we explore Eadha.
Ohn is the symbol of the white poplar tree. This tree represents protection and the ability to shield yourself from harm. There are also associations with language and wind. Below are a few attributes of this symbol:
We're a day behind because of the long weekend, but I wanted to share my weekly divination with you nonetheless!
This week I chose to use Astragalus as my method of divination. This type of divination has many names including:
This practice includes using the ankle or "knuckle" bones of an animal as the divinatory tool. Where most divinatory practices give each individual item or symbol their own meaning, this system seems to focus more on the message as coming from the grouping rather than the individual items. The set of bones I am using were inherited from my grandmother, so I don't exactly know where they came from, but I find them an interesting resource to use. For my interpretation, I am using the Oracle Bones Divination by Kostas Dervenis as my reference, which gives both a name and a numerical value for each side of the bone. Below is the Bone 1 - Hyption - 3 Bone 2 - Pranes - 4 Bone 3 - Pranes - 4 Bone 4 - Hyption - 3 Bone 5 - Koon - 6 For a total value of 20 - which ties to Zeus, the Guardian of the Dead. This omen indicates that you can't rush you plans to get what you're after. The gods will help you with your burden, but you need to take it slowly and be patient. Ultimately then, the task will be easy. I hope you all have a wonderful week. Triskele Podcast Episode 3 is now available on Youtube, iTunes, Google podcast, and pretty much everywhere else (you can find specifics on our website). In this episode, we talk about the ancestors and the role that they play in our individual practices. We discuss ancestor shrines, the groups that we honor, our practices with them, and how to approach problematic ancestors, and how our ancestors are represented in our home. We then shared some of our favorite stories about our ancestors. We hope you enjoy this discussion as much as we did. This week's omen comes from the Goddess and Sirens Oracle Cards by Stacey Demarco and Jimmy Manton:
Welcome back to my Learning Ogham series. This week we continue to explore the horizontal, or vowel, Ogham as we explore Ur.
Ur is the symbol of the heather. It represents healing and your inner self. It represents our ability to travel the path between realms. It's tied to Midsummer, the time when the sun is most powerful, and from here days begin to transition again in the cycle of the year. Ur represents a connection to the spirit world, and the ability heal ourselves through transformation. Below are a few attributes of this symbol:
